11U D-I: Flames Eliminated But Finish Top 5; PV Places Three Teams in Top 13 Last Updated: Thursday, July 3 at 3:15 PM Day 6 -- Thursday, July 3: Flames Eliminated But Finish Top 5; PV Places Three Teams in Top 13 Congratulations to the Maryland Flames team coached by Mike Baker for finishing in the Top 5 at Branson, MO in the 11-Under D-1 Nationals. The Flames were eliminated today in a tough 45-39 loss to TN Team Pride.
The Potomac Valley District, with six teams in the tournament and five teams in the Championship Bracket had three teams finish in the Top 13: . Maryland Flames, Top 5 . Fairfax Stars, Top 9 . Team Sol, Top 13

Day 5 -- Wednesday, July 2: Flames Drop Into Losers Bracket; Stars Finish in Top 9 After winning five straight games, the MD Flames suffered their first loss today 48-28 to the MO Valley Magic. The Flames are still alive with a game tomorrow at 9:00 AM in the Loser’s Bracket vs. the winner of tonight’s 6:00 PM game between the TN Team Pride and Les chats Basketball.
The Fairfax Stars dropped a 43-36 decision to the WV Thunder this morning, thereby getting eliminated from play, but wrapping up a Top 9 finish for the team.
The Mustangs were eliminated in the Classic Bracket today in a 37-31 loss to San Gabriel Valley. The Mustangs finished in the Top 9 in the Classic Bracket.
Day 4 -- Tuesday, July 1: Flames and Stars Advance; Vogues, Team Sol and Cardinal Eliminated The #2 seed MD Flames continued rolling tonight with a 55-35 victory in the winner’s bracket over TN Glory. Tomorrow afternoon they play the MO Valley Magic.
In the morning, Team Sol knocked out follow PV member Vogues in 51-45. Later in the morning, the Cardinal were knocked out 41-37 by the IN Elite Red while the Fairfax Stars stayed alive by defeating the NO Dominos 46-41 in a noon game.
In the afternoon, Team Sol was eliminated in a 43-26 loss to the MV Blazers; however, Team Sol will leave Branson with a top 13 finish.
After trailing by as many as 10+ points, the Fairfax Stars came back to defeat Mission Rec. Center 45-40, sewing up a Top 9 finish in the process with an elimination game tomorrow vs. the WV Thunder.
The WFBC Mustangs fell into the loser’s bracket of the Classic Bracket with a 63-55 loss to the AL Twisters.
Day 3 -- Monday, June 30: Flames in Winner’s Bracket; 4 More Teams Alive in Loser’s Bracket The #2 seeded MD Flames defeated fellow PV member Cardinal 58-52 to become the only PV team still in the winner’s Championship Bracket after day 3.
The Cardinal, Vogues, Stars and Team Sol all went 1-1 today and are still alive in the loser’s bracket. In a game at 9:00 AM Tuesday, the Vogues and Team Sol battle eachother in a loser-out game.
The Mustangs went 2-0 in the winner’s bracket of the Classic Bracket.
Day 2 -- Sunday, June 29: 5 PV Teams Advance to Championship Bracket; Flames Win Pool The Potomac Valley’s second day of pool play wasn’t quite as strong as day 1, but five teams still advanced to the Championship Bracket. The defending silver medalist Flames went 3-0 to win Pool M. The Vogues (2-1), Team Sol, (3-1), Fairfax Stars (2-1) and Cardinal (2-1) all finished second in their pools to advance to the Championship Bracket.
The Mustangs lost two very close games a game to the #5 seed and will participate in the Classic Bracket.
Day 1 -- Saturday, June 28: Good First Day for PV as Four Teams Go 2-0 The Potomac Valley showed its strength on day 1 at the 11U D-I Nationals in Branson, MO with MD Flames, Fairfax Stars, Vogues and Team Sol all going 2-0. The Mustangs lost two close games and the Cardinal lost its game.
