Overview
Each year AAU holds National Championship tournaments for AAU Girls’ Basketball. Teams much qualify to attend AAU Nationals.
AAU Nationals are held in the following age groups:
· 8U to 15U based upon the July 1 Age Determination Date
· Junior Division (formerly 16U)
. Open Division
· Grade-based championships
For 10U-15U, and the Junior AAU age groups, separate Division I and Division II AAU National Championships are held; for 8U, 9U and the Open Division age group, a single National Championship is held. A new Division III National Championship will be held in 2008; all age groups will compete in a single tournament in Hampton, Virginia from June 30 to July 4.
